Vimos o Nanook (Flaherty). Gostámos muito das cenas cómicas, como a cena em que toda a gente sai da canoa ou na cena da caça à foca em que ele está sempre a cair e depois vêm muitos ajudar. Foi muito interessante porque vimos como é que eles faziam as coisas do dia a dia com quase nada: como pescavam e caçavam, como construíam abrigo ( é estranho que o igloo de fora parece pequeno mas lá dentro parece grande). É incrível como é que pessoas com tão poucos recursos conseguem viver na neve!
Depois a Ana contou-nos como tinha sido filmada a cena no interior do igloo – que era só metade do igloo para terem luz – e ficámos meio desiludidos, meio surpreendidos, porque o filme parece mesmo que é a vida deles, que eles não estão a fingir para a câmara que estão a acordar. E há cenas que não são mesmo a fingir, que acontecem mesmo como a caça do leão marinho ou da raposa ou a briga dos cães. Continuamos a gostar muito do filme.
We saw Nanook (Flaherty). We really enjoyed the comic scenes, like the one where everyone gets out of the canoe or the seal hunting scene where he keeps falling and then lots of people come to help. It was very interesting because we saw how they did the day-a-day things with next to nothing: how they fished and hunted, how they built shelter (it’s strange that the igloo looks small from the outside but seems big inside). It’s amazing how people with so few resources manage to live in the snow!
Then Ana told us how the scene inside the igloo had been filmed – it was only half the igloo so they had light – and we were a bit disappointed, a bit surprised, because the film really feels like it’s their life, that they’re not pretending to the camera that they’re waking up. And there are scenes that aren’t pretend, that really happen, like the sea lion or the fox hunt or the dog fight. We still love the film.
