O exerc\u00edcio 1 foi o meu favorito. Eu decidi gravar a minha gata, como estava com ela todos os dias foi simples gravar diversos planos e experimentar com os \u00e2ngulos, foi divertido conseguir observar a minha gata como algu\u00e9m de fora. Quando apresentei o exerc\u00edcio, as pessoas que assistiram repararam que num dos planos havia um sapato que estava em primeiro plano, e quando me perguntaram o motivo daquilo, eu n\u00e3o soube muito bem o que dizer. Aquele momento foi marcante porque eu percebi a import\u00e2ncia de prestar aten\u00e7\u00e3o aos detalhes. (Mariana Sideris)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exercise 1 was my favorite. I decided to record my cat. As I was with her every day, it was easy to record different shots and experiment with the angles. When I presented the exercise, the people watching noticed that in one of the shots there was a shoe in the foreground, and when they asked me why, I didn’t really know what to say. O exerc\u00edcio 1 ajudou-me muito a compreender e interiorizar alguns aspectos do cinema documental que desconhecia. Por exemplo, parece um lugar-comum que o tempo de filmagem e a fluidez de quem filma s\u00e3o indispens\u00e1veis, mas pouco se fala do tempo das rela\u00e7\u00f5es a posteriori, da fluidez dos alicerces que criamos com tudo \u00e0 nossa volta. Este exerc\u00edcio aproximou-me do que realmente me apaixona no documental: as pessoas e o processo de contar (ou tentar) a sua hist\u00f3ria. (J\u00falia Coelho)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exercise 1 helped me a lot to understand and internalize some aspects of documentary filmmaking that I didn’t know about. For example, it seems commonplace that filming time and the fluidity of the person filming are indispensable, but little is said about the time of relationships afterwards, the fluidity of the foundations we create with everything around us. This exercise brought me closer to what I really love about documentaries: people and the process of telling (or trying to tell) their story. J\u00falia Coelho)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inicialmente foi confuso pensar num animal cujo movimento e micro express\u00f5es fossem interessantes, do ponto de vista visual. Acabei por filmar um Melro-preto no Parque Eduardo VII em Lisboa. Foi complicado captar de forma n\u00edtida o movimento do p\u00e1ssaro, estava com medo de mim, sempre a mexer-se. O resultado final n\u00e3o ficou como eu gostaria. (Pedro Melo)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first it was confusing to think of an animal whose movement and micro-expressions were interesting from a visual point of view. I chose to film a Blackbird in Lisbon’s Eduardo VII Park. It was difficult to capture the bird’s movement clearly, it was scared of me, always moving. The end result wasn’t what I wanted. (Pedro Melo)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Com estes exerc\u00edcios surgiu uma nova oportunidade para desenvolver as minhas capacidades, n\u00e3o s\u00f3 de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o, como de explora\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo, essenciais ao desenvolvimento de um filme. Talvez o que mais me marcou nesta experi\u00eancia foi a proximidade que me trouxe a indiv\u00edduos com os quais pouco esperava ter conex\u00e3o. (Joaquim Queiroz)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these exercises came a new opportunity to develop my skills, not only in communication, but also in exploring the world, which are essential for the development of a film. Perhaps what struck me most about this experience was the closeness it brought me to individuals with whom I hardly expected to have a connection.
